Yolonda Marie Byrd was born March 28, 1963 in New Orleans, LA and passed away March 1, 2018 in Houston, TX at the age of 54. She is preceded in death by father, Willie Terry and aunt, Betty Baptiste. Yolonda was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, her home for more than 40 years. There she raised her two young sons and lived and worked among her family and friends. With courage and strength born of her faith in Jesus Christ, Yolonda met this last challenge with relentless determination. She fought bravely and lived fully to the end, sharing an infectious smile with all.

As her friends and her church rallied around her, she left an indelible mark on hundreds of lives by the grace and hope she exhibited. Her family wishes to thank the people of Kingwood United Methodist Church, her second family for 13 years, for the love and grace shown to her and her sons. A very special thanks is extended to the Reeves family for the years of faithful friendship from the day she arrived in Kingwood as an evacuee.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Kingwood United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the KUMC Youth program in her memory.
